WASHINGTON, D.C., October 1, 2019 -

Today, Ranking Republican Rob Bishop (R-Utah) released the following statement on the Trump administration's intent to nominate Katharine MacGregor as Deputy Secretary of the Department of the Interior (DOI).

“The intent to nominate Kate is a no brainer decision by the Trump administration. Since leaving the Committee, she has brought invaluable experience to the Department and will continue to play an integral role in promoting proper stewardship of our natural resources. I look forward to continued collaboration with her and the Department.”

MacGregor is currently serving as DOI’s Deputy Chief of Staff exercising the authority of the Deputy Secretary, focusing on domestic energy and mineral development, halting violence against indigenous peoples, and enhancing rural broadband.  From 2014 to January 2017, Kate served under Chairman Rob Bishop as Senior Professional Staff on the House Committee on Natural Resources Subcommittee on Energy and Minerals.
