Today, the House Committee on Natural Resources completed a markup that began last week, reporting a total of nine bills out of committee. Several of these bills would devastate American communities that depend on energy revenues, eliminate good-paying union jobs, impact longstanding conservation programs and more. In an effort to correct some of these issues, committee Republicans offered an additional 20 amendments during today's markup on topics ranging from wildfire mitigation, to renewable resources, to American jobs, to minority communities.

A total of five Republican amendments to H.R. 1506 were accepted: 

Requiring the Department of Interior (DOI) to report to Congress every two years on the emissions produced during the construction of solar panels and wind turbines, offered by U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany (R-Wis.)

Requiring DOI to report to Congress every two years on whether the materials or labor for the construction of solar panels and wind turbines are sourced from the Xinjiang Autonomous Region in China, offered by U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany (R-Wis.)

Requiring DOI to report to Congress every two years on the environmental impacts of the decommissioning and disposal of renewable energy products and electronic waste, including batteries, solar panels and products that have exceeded their life cycle, offered by U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.)

Requiring DOI to report to Congress regarding the environmental and human rights impacts of renewable energy production, offered by U.S. Rep. Garret Graves (R-La.)

Adding evaluations of wildfire risks and the effects of catastrophic wildfire on energy infrastructure and energy rights-of-ways to an existing reporting requirement, offered by U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.)

Other Republican amendments Committee Democrats rejected included:

Amendment to H.R. 1517, offered by U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.): prevents the bill from being implemented until DOI ensures it will not adversely affect any jobs available to Native Americans, other minorities and women.

Amendment to H.R. 1517, offered by U.S. Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-Mont.): instructs DOI to conduct a study before the bill is implemented on the direct and indirect American job losses that would result.

Amendment to H.R. 1517, offered by U.S. Rep. Garret Graves (R-La.): conditions the bill's implementation on a DOI determination that it would not result in a greater likelihood of energy poverty or further racial inequality.

Amendment to H.R. 1517, offered by U.S. Rep. Pete Stauber (R-Minn.): requires DOI to publish a study estimating lifecycle emissions from the sourcing and transportation of wind turbine and solar panel materials.

Amendment to H.R. 1517, offered by U.S. Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-Mont.): requires DOI to confirm this bill will not decrease revenues to the Land and Water Conservation Fund.

Amendment to H.R. 1505, offered by U.S. Rep. Garret Graves (R-La.): ensures this bill would not result in increased reliance on minerals from foreign countries that use child or slave labor, and that this bill would not threaten U.S. national security.
