Bishop: “The Committee has become a mockery of democracy and a mockery of good government.”

Democrats Continue Dogmatic Pursuit of Partisan Legislation, Important Bipartisan Solutions Neglected

Today at the House Natural Resources Full Committee Markup, Ranking Republican Rob Bishop (R-Utah) emphasized the Democrats inability to consider thoughtful, bipartisan legislation and instead, make a mockery of good governance.

“The three bills we are marking up today are going nowhere. They’re not going to be considered in the Senate, they’ll never be signed by a President, and we are simply spinning our wheels once again… You will notice right now that 20 of the 26 democrats are not here to listen to any of this debate… but I can understand it when it means nothing.”

U.S. Rep. Bishop highlights multiple pieces of important legislation that Democrats are simply refusing to consider in order to pander to special interests and far-left environmental extremists. Instead of considering a landmark Navajo Utah water rights settlement introduced by U.S. Rep. Rob Bishop, necessary reforms for wildfire management by U.S. Rep. Bruce Westerman, or modernizing the Pittman-Robertson Fund introduced by U.S. Rep. Austin Scott, Democrats continue to waste the Committee’s time and its resources on frivolous theatre.
