Tipton: Expanding hydropower would utilize our natural resources responsibly to create jobs

House Natural Resources Committee Republicans are committed to putting Americans back to work by enacting policies that embrace America’s abundant natural resources to help create jobs and grow our economy.

The Committee continues its Job Watch series this week with Freshman Committee Member Rep. Scott Tipton (CO-03). His district spans the Colorado Rocky Mountains, which includes abundant energy resources like natural gas, clean coal, wind and hydropower.

Watch Rep. Tipton discuss his bill, H.R. 2842, The Bureau of Reclamation Small Conduit Hydropower Development and Rural Jobs Act. H.R. 2842 would streamline the regulatory process to ensure the timely development of clean, renewable hydropower on federal water canals and pipelines. The legislation would eliminate unnecessary red tape for irrigation districts and electric utilities to jump start small hydropower projects and create much-needed jobs in Colorado.
